May the Mind of Christ, My Savior

for those wondering what i've had written of my arm the past couple of days...
----
May the Mind of Christ, My Savior
May the mind of Christ, my Savior,

Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.

May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His power.

May the peace of God my Father
Rule my life in everything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.

May the love of Jesus fill me
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.

May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.

May His beauty rest upon me,
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

This is one of my favorite hymns, not because the words are just amazing, but because you can also look at this as a prayer. Each stanza has something that we should all strive to be and it's a wonderful reminder of what I want to be. I write it on my arm so that I can have a constant reminder to watch what I say and what I think about. It's also awesome because people ask me what's written there so I get a chance to share with them...

so yeah i hope you're having a great day.

Well, writing this great hymn where you can read it and remember it is great. Even better if its truth gets absorbed into your heart. If we are to have the mind of Christ, we'll need to be "transformed by the renewing of [our] mind" (Rom. 12:2). And that happens as we meditate on the Word of God.

Today, as I write, is the 150th anniversary of the author of the hymn Kate Wilkinson. If you want to learn more about the hymns we sing, I encourage you to check out my daily blog, Wordwise Hymns. God bless.
